Beauty on Paper – A Look Back at Daniel Halsall’s Captivating Exhibition at The Vault

Earlier this spring, The Vault opened its doors to Beauty on Paper, a visually stunning exhibition from Wirral-based artist Daniel Halsall.

Visitors were treated to a stunning showcase of delicate yet bold works that explored the female form through expressive line, layered textures, and a vibrant sense of movement. Taking inspiration from artists such as Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele, Daniel’s pieces stood out confidently against the concrete walls of our bank vault gallery. Delicate line work; a strong use of colour and movement could be seen in each drawing.

Best known as the in-house artist for Gondwana Records since 2008, the artist blends his experience in album design with his background as a London College of Fashion alumnus.

But Beauty on Paper was more than just a solo showing. A collaborative spirit was present throughout the exhibition, with thoughtful inclusions that expanded the collection’s emotional palette through partnership with Liverpool-based ceramicist Annie Moon and musician Rosa.

The show opened with a busy launch night on the 1st of May. Visitors explored the works with a glass in hand, immersed in conversations about beauty, expression, and the intersection of art forms. It was a strong reminder of what The Vault exists for, bringing artists and audiences together in meaningful ways.

Beauty on Paper was an exploration in the expressive potential of drawing, and a testament to Daniel Halsall’s place within Merseyside’s evolving creative landscape. We’re proud to have hosted such an emotive show, and even prouder to support local artists.
